What is MABR?
MABR stands for the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region, a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Region that promotes a balanced relationship between people and nature.
Are you Town staff?
No. I am working with MABR on a community outreach project supported by the Town. I am not a Town staff member and I don’t speak for Council. I’m here to listen, share general information, and record themes from the community.
Will this change town policy?
This outreach will help identify community themes, questions, barriers, and success stories. I can’t say what decisions the Town may make, but the information we gather can help inform future climate action conversations.
What will happen with my comments?
We will summarize themes from many conversations. Individual comments are not attributed unless someone gives permission for a story or quote.
What if I disagree with the Town’s approach?
That is useful feedback. We are gathering a range of views, including concerns and suggestions.
Are you trying to convince people to support climate policy?
No. I’m here to listen, share basic information, and record community themes.
Is climate action going to cost residents more?
Cost is one of the issues we are asking about. We want to understand what people need, what barriers exist, and what supports would make actions more practical.
What can individuals do?
There are many things individuals can do to help the environment. Some good palces to start are: saving energy, improving insulation, using less water, planting native or drought-tolerant plants, walking or cycling when possible, reducing waste, preparing for extreme weather, and sharing local success stories.
